Paolo Michele Sonvilla started his professional career in the telecommunications sector, working in several European countries on the development and commercial launch of mobile telecommunications devices. After completing his MBA studies in 2006, Paolo gained interest in the sustainable energy sector. In this field he has authored several research studies, developed successful project proposals, and led activities in European projects, collaborating with several organisations such as eclareon, BSW-Solar, EPIA and Dena.
In particular, Paolo contributed to the management of the PV LEGAL and PV GRID projects, consisting the research of administrative and regulatory barriers hampering the development of the photovoltaic market in up to 16 European countries.
Currently, Paolo is in charge of developing European R&I opportunities at Creara, a sustainable energy consulting and engineering firm based in Madrid, Spain. Among his responsibilities, he is involved in the coordination of THERMOS (Thermal Energy Resource Modelling and Optimisation System), an EU Horizon 2020 funded research project which will provide advanced energy system data and models in a user-friendly open-source application to make heat network planning faster, more efficient, and more cost effective.
Paolo holds a MSc in Electronic Engineering (University of Trieste, Italy) and a Master of Business Administration (INSEAD, France).
