Dr Holger Weichmann is Senior Manager, Digital and Smart Energy, at EnBW.
Dr. Holger Wiechmann was born 1967 in Stade (Lower Saxony, Germany). According to his intermediate diploma in mechanical engineering as well as secondary studies in German language and in philosophy at the Technical University (RWTH) of Aachen he finished university as a graduated engineer (Dipl.-Ing.) in energy technology at the Technical University of Berlin. In 2008 he accomplished his PhD (Dr. rer. pol.) at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) with a dissertation about a model for a market- and generation-orientated control of the electricity demand operated by a central load management.
In 1997 he has joined the EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG working in several Companies of the affiliated group. Places of employment were amongst others the Generation Company, the holding, the subsidiary company Yello Strom GmbH as well as the Sales Company. In his fields of activity he attends from the beginning on the liberalization of the energy markets. Actual he works for the R&D Department and is engaged in fundamental questions of the sector coupling (power-to-X technologies), energy markets, market design and the “Energiewende” with its increasing capacities of renewables energies and the challenge to integrate them into the system.
